The McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburgers are being linked to an outbreak of E.coli.This new outbreak has sickening nearly 50 people in ten states.
The majority of the people who are ill all stated they ate a Quarter Pounder hamburger from McDonalds. Investigators are working to confirm which ingredient is contaminated.
A total of 49 cases have been reported to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Most of the illnesses occurred in Colorado and Nebraska. The other states that reported illness include Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oregon, and Wisconsin. At least 10 people have been hospitalized.

McDonalds stated that they are removing the Quarter Pounder sandwich from these locations, as well as Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.
It usually takes about four weeks to determine if a sick person is a part of the outbreak. Most people infected by E.coli experience severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. Most recover without treatment after about seven days.
People are advised to call their doctors if they ate a Quater Pounder and have the severe E.coli symptoms as follows:
Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102 degrees Fahrenheit
Diarrhea for more than 3 days
Bloody Diarrhea
Violent Vomiting – that you can not hold any liquids down
Signs of dehydration, such as reduced urination, dry mouth and throat, and feeling dizzy
After this outbreak, McDonald’s shares went down 7%.
