Martin Lawrence is reviving one of his most memorable roles with a sequel to Blue Streak now in development at Sony Pictures. Read more about his upcoming film venture inside.

Following the massive success of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Sony and Lawrence are setting their sights on this 1999 comedy favorite. According to an exclusive from Deadline, the sequel script is being crafted by Cole Maliska and Lawrence, along with Robert Lawrence, Rae Proctor, Stacy Lyles, and Toby Jaffe of RDV Films. The production is through his Run Tel Dat production company.

In the original Blue Streak, Lawrence portrayed a jewel thief named Miles Logan, who returns to reclaim a hidden diamond only to find that the building he hid it in has been transformed into a police station. To retrieve it, he disguises himself as a detective and is partnered with an actual cop, played by Luke Wilson. The film became an instant hit, earning the top spot at the North American box office and grossing nearly $120 million worldwide, cementing Lawrence’s comedic charm on screen.

The upcoming Blue Streak sequel is still in early development, with additional cast and plot details yet to be disclosed. Lawrence’s recent success with Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which grossed over $403 million globally and propelled the Bad Boys franchise past the $1 billion mark, has reignited interest in Lawrence-led comedies.

Lawerence is busy working on his nationwide comedy tour You All Know What It Is, which runs through March 2025. He’s offering fans live entertainment before hopping back on the big screen as Miles once again.
