Kim Kardashian Returns to Paris—But This Time, for Court

Kim Kardashian was back in Paris today—this time it wasn’t for Fashion Week.

It was for court.

Kim K testified in the trial connected to the 2016 armed robbery that changed her life. Twelve men are facing charges after allegedly pulling off one of the wildest celebrity heists in recent memory.

In October 2016, Kardashian was staying at a private apartment during Paris Fashion Week. Early one morning, a group of men dressed as police burst in. They tied her up, locked her in the bathroom, and stole $10 million worth of jewelry, most of which has never been recovered.

Today, she stood in front of some of those same men and told the court what happened.

The Robbery That Changed How Celebs Move Online

French prosecutors believe the group planned the robbery after watching her social media. At the time, Kardashian often posted in real time, showing off her location, outfits, and luxury jewelry.

That all changed after the heist. She notably keeps a lower profile online, and rarely ever posts to social media in real time..

This trial is a big deal in France. It’s been nearly eight years since the robbery, but the suspects are just now facing justice. Charges include armed robbery, kidnapping, and criminal conspiracy.

Kardashian’s testimony was one of the most anticipated moments of the trial so far. The courtroom was packed, and media coverage is everywhere.

Earlier in the trial, Harouche recalled hearing Kardashian scream from upstairs: “‘I need to live.’ That is what she kept on saying, ‘Take everything. I need to live.’”
