So much for the three-course meals of “spaghetti, fettuccini, and veal” that he rapped about in “All About The Benjamins.” Today, Sean “Diddy” Combs is eating less extravagantly for his 55th birthday (Nov. 4).
As you know, the disgraced hip-hop mogul is spending his birthday behind bars – awaiting his trial in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. Combs has been in custody since his September arrest on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
As reported by PEOPLE Magazine, the Bad Boy Records founder will have plenty to eat. However, it is far from the lobster and shrimp he is used to. Instead, he will have to settle for the national menu provided by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
For 6 am breakfast, Combs has access to fruit, oatmeal, whole wheat bread, biscuits, and “oven brown potatoes,” along with various spreads like jelly and margarine. Inmates can also have “breakfast cake,” but this is not specific to Diddy’s (or anyone’s) birthday.
Coffee is only served on the weekend, and pancakes are available on Wednesdays. French toast is also offered, but only on Fridays.
Lunch is served at 11 am, and Monday’s menu includes Southwest chicken wraps, chicken tacos, cheese pizza or three-bean chili. Inmates can also have sides such as green beans, rice, cole slaw or salsa. Fruit comes with lunch every day, and dessert is offered on some days. Monday is not one of those days.
Finally, dinner is served after the 4 pm headcount. Monday’s dinner includes turkey roast, rice, peas, gravy, whole wheat bread, and a beverage. A second choice includes chicken or tofu, fried rice, black beans, and carrots. Dessert is not served with any dinners.
If none of that is appealing to Combs (which, we imagine it’s not), he can purchase goods from his commissary account. Those for sale include Nutella, Snickers, hot chocolate, and macaroni & cheese.
On October 10, Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo said that the food is one of the most difficult parts of his incarceration. “I think the food’s probably the roughest part of it,” Agnifilo told reporters outside of a federal courthouse in Manhattan after a status conference.
Welp, looks like Combs will have quite a bit of time to adjust: his trial date is not until May 5, 2025. If convicted, he’s facing a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison
