For weeks, citizens across New Jersey and other states—have reported seeing clusters of drone-like objects flying low in the sky at night, yet no real information is being given.
State officials say they’ve seen the drones firsthand and have received mixed information from federal agencies and have pushed the FBI for answers.
On Dec. 3, the FBI joined several New Jersey police investigations, announcing a public request for more information on the observed “cluster of what look to be drones and a possible fixed-wing aircraft.”
Here is a video from a plane passenger filmed an entire fleet of UAP/UFO/Drones over New York.
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the drones were not a public safety concern, and many of the reported sightings are actually manned aircraft.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas also downplayed concerns about the drones on Sunday, claiming part of the sightings are based on relaxed regulations that allow the devices to fly at night.
“Some of those drone sightings are, in fact, drones,” he said. “Some are manned aircraft that are commonly mistaken for drones. And we do see duplicative reporting.”
So what are they doing there? This seems like something law enforcement would find out and report on in an instant like when it happens at professional sporting events.
Odly enough, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base which is a base just miles from Dayton, Ohio, that houses technology and research facilities closed its air operations for nearly four hours from Friday night into Saturday because of “small unmanned aerial systems,” though the facility was not impacted, Bob Purtiman, the base’s chief of public affairs, told multiple local outlets.
Most recently an unnamed FBI official said in a White House briefing fewer than 100 of the agency’s 5,000 tips on drone sightings have been worthy of further investigation.
The FAA said it is investigating the reported sightings and issued temporary flight restrictions.
“We look into all reports of unauthorized drone operations and investigate when appropriate,” a spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “Drone operators who conduct unsafe operations that endanger other aircraft or people on the ground could face fines up to $75,000. In addition, we can suspend or revoke drone operators’ pilot certificates.”
New Jersey state Sen. Joe Pennacchio, a Republican, even sent a letter to President-elect Trump asking the incoming administration to prioritize an investigation into the matter.
Take a look at this video from the Wall Street Journal that explains how unidentified aircraft flying only hundreds of feet from the ground have appeared in the skies over New Jersey in recent weeks. Experts who have seen the reported “drone” footage of these aircrafts categorize it into two buckets: quadcopter and fixed-winged aircraft.
