Denzel Washington’s movies, talent and fineness transcends across generations. When you, your momma, and your grandma can say that a man is fine, that’s a top-tier man. I can recall my mom and granny speaking about how beautiful Washington was and how it was more than just his physical beauty. It was more about his swag and THAT WALK. Fun fact: there’s a whole corner of the internet dedicated to this man and his walk.
Y’all asked for Denzel! Half of our comments in the Obama video asked us to do Denzel. #celebrity #denzelwashington #obama #walk

Let’s not forget that the American actor, director, and producer is one of his generation’s most acclaimed and successful actors, having won two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and a Tony Award. The multi-hyphenate is starring in the new “Gladiator II,” and ever since the trailer dropped earlier this summer, people have been in shambles as we were all reminded of the magic that is Denzel Washington. There’s a moment where he chuckles and flashes that million-dollar smile, and we swear all of America just melted.
Born in Mount Vernon, New York, three days after Christmas in 1954, this man is truly a blessing to humanity. As a youngin, he attended Fordham University, where he studied journalism. After graduating, he worked as a social worker before deciding to pursue a career in acting. Washington made his film debut in 1981 in the film “Carbon Copy.” He gained wider recognition for his roles in the movies “Cry Freedom” (1987), “Glory” (1989), and “Malcolm X” (1992). He won his first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Glory.
In the 1990s, Washington starred in several successful films, including “The Pelican Brief” (1993), “Philadelphia” (1993), and “Crimson Tide” (1995). He won his second Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in the 2001 film “Training Day,” where his iconic line “King Kong ain’t got nothing on me” was born.
Washington has continued to star in critically acclaimed films in the 2000s and 2010s, including “American Gangster” (2007), “Flight” (2012), and “Fences” (2016). He also made his directorial debut with the 2002 film “Antwone Fisher.”
Washington is one of the most respected and admired actors in Hollywood. He is known for his powerful performances, commitment to craft, and dedication to social justice.
When I asked a bevy of Black women when they realized Washington was “Him,” this is what they had to say:
It was definitely “Mo Betta Blues” for me.
Did you see him “Bone Collector”? Wow.
“Remember the Titans” because you better lead them to victory!
“John Q” = “Ooouuuu you better fight for your kid”
“Training Day” had multiple votes that I couldn’t even compute. “Man on Fire” and “The Equalizer” were also heavy contenders. His career clearly showcases his depth and versatility, leaving a lasting impression.
The star has even given us a legacy of fineness with his son, John David Washington, who happens to harness that classic Washington magic. All in all, we want to thank God for giving us the blessing that is Denzel Washington—every generation of Black women is thankful.
