Cassie Asks for Dismissal of Diddy Subpoena

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ex, Cassie Ventura is pushing back against a subpoena from the disgraced rap mogul, which demands she hand over drafts of a memoir and her bank statements. In court documents filed late last week, Ventura, 38, argues that Combs’ requests are overly broad and premature and she’s seeking to stop the subpoena.​

Issued on March 19, the subpoena asks for “all draft memoirs, autobiographies, narratives, diaries, journals or notes” related to her relationship with Combs, 55, as well as any communications about publishing such material. It also requests her bank statements, TMZ reports.  

This legal move follows previous claims from Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, who alleges that Ventura wrote a book about their relationship and offered to sell the rights to Combs for $30 million to prevent its publication. Ventura denies these claims and says that the subpoena is an attempt to intimidate her.

Ventura previously filed a civil lawsuit against her former boyfriend in November 2023, accusing him of rape and abuse. After the details of the lawsuit became public, including graphic accounts of “freakoffs” she says she was forced to participate in while under the influence of drugs, the case was settled the following day.

But legal experts say that any non-disclosure agreement from that settlement does not prevent Ventura from testifying against Combs if subpoenaed, especially in cases involving sexual assault or harassment. His trial is scheduled to start on May 5, the same day as the Met Gala, where Combs triumphantly appeared on the red carpet with then-girlfriend Caresha “Yung Miami” Brownlee in 2023.

Ventura and her husband, model and actor Alex Fine, announced they are pregnant with their third child in January. In March, she revealed the couple is having a boy.
