MTV’s 2024 VMAs Welcomes 29 First Time Nominees Like Tyla, Sexyy Red, Victoria Monét & Teddy Swims

MTV has just unveiled the eagerly awaited list of nominees for the 2024 VMAs, highlighting artists whose impact over the past year has significantly shaped the music industry and ignited global conversations. Read more about this year’s VMAs and check out the full list of nominees inside.

Leading the pack is Taylor Swift with a staggering 10 nominations. Swift, eyeing her fifth win in the “Video of the Year” category, aims to become the first artist to achieve a three-peat in this prestigious category.

Hot on her heels is her “Fortnight” collaborator Post Malone with nine nominations. Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Sabrina Carpenter each secured six nods, while Megan Thee Stallion and SZA each earned five. Rising stars LISA, Olivia Rodrigo, and Teddy Swims garnered four nominations each.

The list also features 29 first-time nominees, showcasing a diverse array of talent. Sabrina Carpenter and Teddy Swims stand out among the newcomers, with three nominations each. Other notable first-timers include Benson Boone, Tyla (three each), Chappell Roan, Jelly Roll, Jessie Murph, Rauw Alejandro, Sexyy Red, and Victoria Monét (two each). Additionally, Alexander Stewart, Burna Boy, Coco Jones, Flyana Boss, Gracie Abrams, Gunna, Joyner Lucas, Laufey, LE SSERAFIM, Lojay, Morgan Wallen, Myke Towers, NCT Dream, Pheelz, Playboi Carti, RAYE, Shaboozey, Tyler Childers, and The Warning have also been recognized for their contributions.

Starting today, fans can cast their votes for favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including the coveted “Video of the Year,” presented by Burger King®, “Best Collaboration,” and “Artist of the Year” categories, by visiting vote.mtv.com. Voting for these categories runs through Friday, August 30th, thanks to The General Insurance®. Voting for “Best New Artist” will continue until the show airs on Tuesday, September 10th. Social category nominations will be announced later.

The 2024 VMAs will return to New York, broadcasting live from UBS Arena on Tuesday, September 10th at 8 PM ET/PT. The event promises headline-making surprises, unique performances, and a fan-packed audience, celebrating the biggest names in music.
