Hurricane Beryl Causes Significant Damage To Pastor Keion Henderson’s Houston Church

Hurricane Beryl caused significant damage to the Houston, TX-area megachurch pastored by Keion Henderson. The north campus of The Lighthouse Church and Ministries is currently closed as of July 10.

In a news release shared with NBC Houston, church officials said the roof collapsed in several areas including the sanctuary, there is extensive water damage to several rooms and much of the electrical system has been compromised.

Henderson himself commented on the destruction, sharing images on social media. He assured his church family while the north campus is closed, the church remains open and will continue serving the community. 

 

“We are resilient and strong, and with God’s grace, we will overcome this,” he said on X, formally known as Twitter. 

Henderson also urged followers to keep the church and Houston in their prayers. He believes the storm has a deeper meaning.

“Either God wanted to get our attention or usher us into a new season,” he said in a video posted to Instagram. “Whatever his decision was we know we cannot make it without Him.”

 

Various celebrities have offered their support to help rebuild Lighthouse’s north campus. Houston rapper Trae the Truth said he and his team, “The Relief Gang” will help with cleanup. Bishop T.D. Jakes also reached out to Henderson on social media saying “it is in your darkest of hours that God shines the brightest of lights. @tphdallas will do anything we can!!”

However, Henderson issued a warning to those considering contributing financially to rebuild The Lighthouse Church’s north campus. 

“We are aware of fake messages attempting to solicit funds in the name of The Lighthouse Church,” church officials wrote in an Instagram post. “This is appalling, and we pray no one is robbed by these deceitful individuals.” 

 

The church’s “The Resiliency Fund” is the only source for sending donations. Right now, the church is reviewing all available options for Sunday services.
