A former Magic City dancer-turned-influencer is suing the iconic ATL strip club for sexual harassment and violation of federal wage laws.
As reported by Fox 5 Atlanta, attorneys for Courtney “Gorgeous Doll” Hale filed the lawsuit on March 27.
According to her complaint, from Sept. 2022 to Sept. 2023, she was regularly required to pay a portion of her earnings in kickbacks to Magic City’s DJ, security, and a third-party promoter known as “Baller.” The lawsuit states those fees were between $20 to as much as $1000.
Attorneys argue that the kickbacks are a violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, which protects employees from having to share tips with their employers.
Hale also says she was sexually harassed by a female manager and that no action was taken when reported.
The complaint states that after Hale started speaking out about her issues, she was fired in an act of retaliation. She is seeking all wages she claims she was forced to pay, along with an unspecified amount in damages.
“There aren’t a lot of girls who speak out because they’re scared … I’m speaking up for myself because I know that something was done and it was illegal,” she told Fox 5.
Now, if the name “Gorgeous Doll” sounds familiar to you, that’s because she was previously in the headlines for incidents involving some of ATL’s biggest hip-hop stars.
In January of this year, Hale accused Latto of having her jumped while pregnant, causing her to miscarry. The incident reportedly stemmed from Hale mentioning Latto’s rumored boyfriend – who many believe to be 21 Savage. Latto denies the claims.
And just last month, Hale claimed that she was in a 5+ year relationship with Future, referring to herself as his “muse.” As reported by The Shade Room, she detailed her relationship in a 69-part series on her TikTok account, which has since been deleted. Future denies ever being in a relationship with Hale.
Attorney Gary Freed, who represents Magic City and its owner, Michael Barney Sr., denies Hale’s claims. He says she was fired for another reason, which was “private information.”
Freed said in a phone call to Fox 5:
“We don’t believe any of these allegations have any merit … this person has been on social media disparaging, denigrating and defaming Magic City. We sent two cease-and-desist letters”
Freed confirmed that the club did investigate Hale’s sexual harassment claim but declined to discuss the outcome.
He added, “Magic City prides itself on treating its employees with dignity and respect … we do not believe this ever happened.”
